About Emergency Care

Severe dental pain or an injured tooth can be frightening, and timely guidance matters. One Ounce Dental cannot promise same-day emergency availability. Call the practice for urgent assessment; call 911 or go to an emergency department for life-threatening symptoms.

When to contact an emergency dentist

Severe or persistent pain, fever with tooth symptoms, dental trauma, facial or jaw swelling, drainage, a broken restoration, or a knocked-out tooth should be assessed promptly. Call the practice for urgent guidance, or an emergency provider if we cannot see you in time.

Where to seek care

Call 911 or go to an emergency department for difficulty breathing or swallowing, rapidly spreading face or neck swelling, uncontrolled bleeding, confusion, or major facial trauma. For other urgent dental symptoms, contact an established dentist or endodontist promptly.

  • Severe dental pain
  • Injury to a tooth or the mouth
  • Broken restorations
  • Knocked-out teeth

What happens during an emergency visit

A treating clinician reviews your symptoms, health history, and the affected area, with images when appropriate. The next step depends on the diagnosis and may include stabilizing the concern, definitive dental treatment, medication when indicated, referral, or follow-up.

After the immediate concern is addressed

Some emergencies can be managed during an initial visit, while others require additional treatment. Follow the treating clinician's instructions, attend recommended follow-up appointments, and contact that provider if symptoms change or worsen.

Plan Your Visit

Request an appointment and our team will follow up to confirm a time, or call 909.283.3130. An examination is required before a treatment recommendation can be made.
